The root pass is the initial line to be welded, and following its completion, a filler pass serves to build up the weld bead to the desired size. Subsequently, a cap pass is used to create a protective seal over the weld bead, while also making it appear smooth and tidy – this safeguards against any contamination entering its depths.
Following the welding process, the piping is allowed to cool, then is divested of any residual materials. Ultimately, it undergoes a visual assessment to validate the quality of the weld.
